Biography
Meet Dana Wilcoxen, an advocate for mental health, a holistic educator, certified Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner, and a Social Emotional Mindset Coach.
Three years ago I began questioning everything I knew and thought to be true. This led me to a life changing decision that rocked the foundation with which I stood on. Through this experience I began to find my true authentic self again. I began to trust my intuition. I opened my heart center and began to let the energy life force flow through me. This brought me to Reiki as a modality of healing my mind, body and spirit.
As I began reiki and healing myself from the inside out I started realizing that I am here for a greater purpose. My mind, body and spirit quickly took to the Divine reiki energy healing process. It is through this process that my own reiki practitioner offered to teach me reiki and assist and coach me in becoming reiki certified. Bringing me to this current time wanting to offer a holistic healing practice.
I believe that everyone has the ability to heal themselves from the inside out. We all have life giving energy within us that leads us on our journeys. You have the ability to find your intuition and ground yourself into your knowing and transform your mind, body and spirit for the highest good.
As I continue on my journey, I have realized that I can combine my experience and education with coaching caregivers and children in the area of social/ emotional development and mindset with Reiki. I have over 25 years of experience in child development and have a passion for wanting to bridge the gap of social/emotional development with the holistic practice of reiki.
Combining my knowledge of social/emotional development and reiki I believe will offer the most comprehensive holistic health journey for my clients
I have a strengths-based approach to my practice. A Strengths-based (or asset-based) approach focuses on individuals' strengths (including personal strengths and social and community networks) and not on their deficits. Strengths-based practice is holistic and multidisciplinary and works with the individual to promote their well-being. I find this to be the best practice that allows the client and the practitioner the ability to work together to discover solutions in the healing process. This means that you will be an active participant in your healing journey. You know yourself the best and I value you as a human being that has a wealth of knowledge and experiences.
I have also been trained in the trauma- informed care approach. The definition of TIC is “Trauma-informed care is a strengths- based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and that creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.” (Hopper, Bassuk, & Olivet, 2010)
I live in the KC area with my partner Darryl. I enjoy traveling, being outside exploring nature, trying new places to eat, baking, and all things lavender (which includes seeking out coffee shops that offer lavender coffee)
I would be honored to walk with you through your healing transformation. I look forward to our first session together.
